LESSON TEN - Know for Sure
HOW DO WE KNOW FOR SURE THAT GOD HAS ACCEPTED US?
As you read this lesson, be sure to hover over the the Bible verses to read them or look them up in your own Bible. When the Bible passage is longer, you need to click on “more” in the bottom right corner of the pop-up window.
Praise God that we don’t have to wait until we die to know for sure that God has accepted us!
If we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then we can know for sure that God has given us eternal life through Him. If we don’t believe, then we are saying God lied when He promised to give us eternal life through His Son. 1 John 5:10-13 (NASB) Compare translations and the original language
The only thing worse than not knowing whether or not God has accepted us is calling God a liar by not believing the Gospel!
If we believe that Jesus was judged for our sin, then we never will be judged for it, because we have already passed from spiritual death to spiritual life. John 5:24 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original language
We pass out of death into life the moment we believe in Jesus!
The moment we believe, we are placed in Christ. Once in Him, we never will be condemned for our sin. Romans 8:1 (KJV) Compare translations and the original language
If God doesn’t condemn us, neither should we.
The Spirit of God testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8:12-17 (KJV) Compare translations and the original language
Thank God for giving you His Spirit and changing you.
If we believe the Gospel, then the Spirit of God will convict us of our sin so that we will not keep sinning. Jesus is our Advocate. 1 John 1:5-2:2 (ESV); 1 John 3:3-10 (NASB) Compare translations and the original language
Praise God that He loves us too much to let us keep sinning without being convicted of it!
The Spirit leads us away from sin to bear fruit for God. As we see the Spirit’s change in our lives, it reminds us that we are saved.
Galatians 5:19-23 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original languageThe way we used to live was very tiring. Our new life gives us such freedom!
We can know for sure that we are saved, because God changed our hearts so that we enjoy obeying Him and loving Christians. 1 John 2:3-6 (NASB); 1 John 5:1-5 (ESV) Compare translations and the original language
What a joy to serve Jesus!
As we take our walk with the Lord seriously, the Spirit of God grows us and that growth brings confidence that He has indeed saved us.
2 Peter 1:5-11 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original languagePraise God for the blessing of assurance of salvation!
We can know for sure that we are saved, because God disciplines us as His children until we confess our sin to Him. Hebrews 12:5-14 (ESV) Compare translations and the original language
God loves us too much to let us feel good about sinning against Him. Praise Him for His Fatherly care!
Consider memorizing one of the following passages (in whichever translation you prefer) as a summary of this lesson: John 5:24 (KJV) or Romans 8:1 (NKJV) or 1 John 5:10-12 (NASB) or 1 John 5:13 (ESV)
What would it take for you to share the Gospel with a stranger?
While there is nothing wrong with expressing the emotion of fear, we should not allow it to keep us from doing all that God’s will demands.
We struggle with fear mostly because we don’t know what will happen when we share the Gospel. God does know, and we can trust Him.
When we are afraid of others rejecting us, we are making the Gospel about us instead of Jesus.
We should be more concerned about what God thinks about people than being concerned with what people think about us. We should love God and others more than ourselves. Ask God for that kind of love and faith.
