There is only one true God but what is He like?

  1. “Tri” means three and “une” means unity. God is eternally one God in Three Persons. Genesis 1:26-27 (NASB) Compare translations and the original language

    God refers to Himself as “Us” and to His image as “Our” image. We see God refer to Himself in the plural from the very beginning.

  2. There is only one true God. Isaiah 45:18 (KJV); Isaiah 45:21-22 (KJV);
    1 Timothy 1:17 (NASB); Jude 25 (ESV) Compare translations and the original language

    There is only one Savior, because there is only one God. Thank God for saving you from your sin.

  3. God is one in unity. Genesis 3:22 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original language

    The word “Triunity” is not found in the Bible, but the doctrine (teaching) of the Triunity is found in both the Old and New Testaments.

  4. The Father is called “God”. 2 John 3 (ESV); Philippians 1:2 (NASB);
    1 Corinthians 8:6 (KJV) Compare translations and the original language

    Jesus taught us to pray to God as our Father, because He cares for us. God is the only Father that will never let us down.

  5. The Son is called “God”. Isaiah 9:6 (NASB); Hebrews 1:8 (KJV);
    John 20:28 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original language

    Jesus deserves to be worshiped because He is God!

  6. The Holy Spirit is called “God”. Acts 5:3-4 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original language

    The Holy Spirit is not a mere force. He is God. Ask the Spirit to help you obey Him.

  7. The One True God exists eternally and simultaneously as Three Persons. Matthew 3:16-17 (NASB); John 17:1, 5 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original language

    Praise God that He reveals Himself to us.

  8. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are equal in nature and authority. Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV); Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB);
    John 15:26 (NKJV) Compare translations and the original language

    Praise God for giving us the privilege to be His children!

  9. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are three distinct Persons, though one Being. John 14:23 (NASB); John 14:26 (NASB);
    2 Corinthians 13:14 (KJV) Compare translations and the original language

    Praise God that He provided salvation!

  10. Although one entity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are independent of one another. Deuteronomy 6:4 (NASB);
    Acts 7:55-56, 59 (NKJV); James 2:19 (ESV) Compare translations and the original language

God is one.

Consider memorizing one of the following passages (in whichever translation you prefer) as a summary of this lesson: Genesis 1:26-27 (KJV) or Deuteronomy 4:35 (ESV) or Deuteronomy 6:4 (NKJV) or Isaiah 6:8 (KJV) or 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NASB).

We share the Gospel because God is worthy, regardless of who believes.

As we are awed by Who Jesus is and what He has done, we can’t help but want to tell people about Him!

Are you filled with faith and love or fear and apathy?

When was the last time you felt you must obey a command of God in such a way that you had to depend on His promise concerning it?

God wants to fill you with His nature so that when people bump into you, He is what spills out!
