You are a believer in Jesus as your Lord and Savior! This assumes that acknowledging before the Holy God that you are a sinner, you accept His forgiveness and are depending now on Jesus' death on the cross to pay for your shortcomings in your place. Believing Jesus came back to life and went to heaven where He is preparing a place for you to be with Him forever, you are now God's child. Your life is in His hands, and He will never leave you. Now that you are in God's family through faith alone in Christ alone, what does this entail as you live your life in anticipation of seeing your Savior face to face someday?
There are some guidelines laid out in Scripture to help you with that:
As you build your personal relationship with your Creator, it is important to commune with Him on a daily basis. Since this is a central part of your day, it is advisable to pick a time and place free of distraction to meet routinely with God. There are two major elements to include in this time...
When children enter into a family, they are not born full-grown. They must eat to grow and become stronger. Just as your physical body needs food to grow and strengthen, so your soul must feed on the Word of God. Once you accept Jesus into your life, you have a personal, positive relationship with Him. As with any relationship, communication is very important. God speaks to you through His Word. You speak to Him through prayer. Prayer is simply telling Him about thoughts that are on your heart. What do you say when interacting with our Savior? One applicable program is easily remembered by the following acrostic...
ACTS:
Adoration- As you enter the Lord’s presence and speak to Him through prayer, you do well to say who God is and what He does as you praise Him for it.
Confession- It's very important to own up to your wrongdoings and ask God to forgive you. If you are truly sorry, that will show in your desire not to commit that sin again. Only then can your prayers and life be fruitful.
Thanksgiving- Thank God for all He’s given you. The Lord hears and responds to a thankful heart. To be otherwise is sinful, and an affront to Him.
Supplication- Jesus came as a servant to the human race. As you follow His example, you should spend time asking God to supply for the needs of others. Learn more about prayer by clicking here.

The first step of obedience of a new believer is that of baptism. It's an important step to declare symbolically in baptism to others that you are buried with Christ and raised in newness of life. In this way, you identify with your Savior and His body, the Church. Inform a pastor that you want to be baptized. Click here to learn more about baptism.

Eternal life is about knowing God the Father and His Son- presently and eternally (John 17:3). Now you get to spend the rest of your life and eternity knowing Jesus better and better! Everything we need to know about Jesus is found in the Bible (2 Peter 1:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:14-17). We must devote ourselves to reading, studying, obeying God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15), and prayer (Jude 20).
Prayer is talking to God (Philippians 4:6). As you pray and read the Bible, you will see that Jesus’ purpose in saving you is not limited to having a future home in heaven (1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:1-6). In fact, He died and rose again so that believers would live for Him instead of themselves (2 Corinthians 5:15). We live for Jesus by obeying Him daily (Acts 2:41-42).
Those who trust in Jesus must follow Him (Luke 9:23). One of the first things a follower of Jesus Christ should do is to be baptized (Acts 10:47). We must be baptized as a one-time public symbol of our identification with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection (1 Peter 3:18-22). It is also important for us to fellowship with a local church (Hebrews 3:12-14; Hebrews 10:23-25) and fish for souls (Matthew 4:19).
As indeed, you have trusted in Jesus then God will use everything in your life to make you more like Him (Romans 8:28-30; Revelation 1:5). Our Savior sets us as believers free from slavery to sin so that we can live for Him (John 8:30-36). The more we obey Jesus, the more The Spirit of God changes us (Galatians 5:16-25).
When Jesus died, believers died to being slaves to sin. When He arose, believers rose to be willing slaves of God (Romans 6:1-11). Now we must remember that we don’t have to live like we used to live (Colossians 3:1-13; I Peter 4:1-7). God wants us to love Him completely and to love all others as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40).
Since Christ died for us, why wouldn’t we want to live for Him (John 14:15)? Nothing will separate believers from God’s love in Christ (Romans 8:35-39). Believers will never go to the Lake of Fire. No one will snatch believers out of the Father’s and Son’s hands (John 10:27-30). If we have eternal life through faith in Christ, then we will follow Him in obedience (John 10:27). God gives us a new heart that wants Jesus instead of sin (2 Corinthians 5:17). He also gives us His Spirit so that we have the ability to follow Him (Ephesians 1:13; Romans 8:1-17).
