BASIC POINTS OF SKETCH MESSAGE
1) Introduce yourself and the group.
2) Talk about “YOU” (the crowd).
Paint “YOU” using Red after talking about “YOU”.
3) Talk about “GOD”. Tell That God is holy.
Paint “GOD” using Red after talking about God.
4) Quote and explain a verse about the holiness of God. Define what it means that God is holy. Explain how God created us in His image to know Him personally.
Paint cloud RAYS representing God’s glory using YELLOW.
5) Explain that there is a barrier between us and God.
Paint BARRIER using RED
6) Declare that the barrier is sin. Define and explain sin. Quote and explain a verse about the sinfulness of mankind. Explain sin as a universal problem.
Paint “SIN” using BLACK after talking about sin.
7) Explain that sin earns death. Quote and explain a verse about the punishment for sin. Explain what death is and how our sin separates us from God. Explain how there is nothing that we can say, think, or do to put us into a right standing with God.
Paint the BOTTOM OF THE CROSS from bottom to top using RED as you explain that sin earns death.
8) Tell how Jesus came into the world. Preach that He is God in the flesh.
Paint the TOP OF THE CROSS from top to bottom using RED.
9) Tell that Jesus is sinless and how He was crucified, shed His blood, and died in our place for our sins. Quote and explain Scripture about Jesus’ death in our place.
Edge THE CROSS using BLACK paint.
10) Proclaim that Jesus was buried in a tomb and rose from the dead on the third say. Quote and explain a verse about the resurrection of Jesus. Explain how He ascended to the right hand of the Father to prepare a place for those who are His. Explain that Jesus is the only way to know the Father.
Paint an ARROW using RED coming out of the grave towards the clouds. Cross out SIN using RED. shade ARROW using BLACK.
11) Tell them that all we have to do to be accepted by God is to turn from whatever is keeping us from trusting in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection for our salvation. Quote and explain a verse about how to receive eternal life. Tell them to turn from their sins and trust that Jesus died for them. Tell them to stop trying to be good enough and trust that Jesus was perfect for them. Invite them to trust Christ now and to demonstrate it by taking a pamphlet from your hand.
Finish painting TURN and TRUST using RED.

5) EXPLAIN THAT THERE IS A BARRIER BETWEEN US AND GOD.
5) Paint SIN using Black after talking about SIN.
6) DECLARE THAT THE BARRIER IS SIN. DEFINE AND EXPLAIN SIN. QUOTE AND EXPLAIN A VERSE ABOUT THE SINFULNESS OF MANKIND. EXPLAIN SIN AS A UNIVERSAL PROBLEM.
6) Paint the bottom of the Cross from bottom to top using Red as you explain that sin earns death.
7) EXPLAIN THAT SIN EARNS DEATH. QUOTE AND EXPLAIN A VERSE ABOUT THE PUNISHMENT FOR SIN. EXPLAIN WHAT DEATH IS AND HOW OUR SIN SEPARATES US FROM GOD. EXPLAIN HOW THERE IS NOTHING THAT WE CAN SAY, THINK, OR DO TO PUT US INTO A RIGHT STANDING WITH GOD.
7) Paint the top of the Cross from top to bottom using Red.
8) TELL HOW JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD. PREACH THAT HE IS GOD IN THE FLESH.
8) Edge the Cross using Black paint.
9) TELL THAT JESUS IS SINLESS AND HOW HE WAS CRUCIFIED, SHED HIS BLOOD, AND DIED IN OUR PLACE FOR OUR SINS. QUOTE AND EXPLAIN SCRIPTURE ABOUT JESUS’ DEATH IN OUR PLACE.
9) Paint an Arrow using Red coming out of the Grave towards the clouds. Cross out SIN using Red. Shade Arrow using Black.
10) PROCLAIM THAT JESUS WAS BURIED IN A TOMB AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD ON THE THIRD DAY. QUOTE AND EXPLAIN A VERSE ABOUT THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS. EXPLAIN HOW HE ASCENDED TO THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR THOSE WHO ARE HIS. EXPLAIN THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW THE FATHER.
10) Finish painting TURN and TRUST using Red.
11) TELL THEM THAT ALL WE HAVE TO DO TO BE ACCEPTED BY GOD IS TO TURN FROM WHATEVER IS KEEPING US FROM TRUSTING IN JESUS’ DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION FOR OUR SALVATION. QUOTE AND EXPLAIN A VERSE ABOUT HOW TO RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE. TELL THEM TO TURN FROM THEIR SINS AND TRUST THAT JESUS DIED FOR THEM. TELL THEM TO STOP TRYING TO BE GOOD ENOUGH AND TRUST THAT JESUS WAS PERFECT FOR THEM. INVITE THEM TO TRUST CHRIST NOW AND TO DEMONSTRATE IT BY TAKING A PAMPHLET FROM YOUR HAND.
